About the Presentation

Program Summary

Retirement Plan Fiduciary Update -- Recent Developments, News & Trends, plus Understanding, Documenting & Negotiating Retirement Plan Fees

Detailed Learning Objectives supporting HRCI Body of Knowledge

This session will provide Human Resource Professionals / Retirement Plan Fiduciaries with an update and analysis of recent developments, news and trends impacting retirement plans. Much has occurred in this area from 2006-2009, and this session will highlight the major issues.

Some of the topics discussed will include: Automatic enrollment in 401(k) plans, Target Date Funds & QDIA’s, new 403(b) regulations for non-profit employers, recent case-law examples from the courts, basic fiduciary duties, etc.

The session will include a section on "Understanding, Documenting, and Negotiating Retirement Plan Fees". Retirement plan fees have recently come under intense regulatory, legislative and Plan Sponsor scrutiny (especially during this difficult current economic climate). Attendees of this session will gain a better understanding of the various types of fees charged by investment managers, advisor consultants, third party administrators and record keepers for providing retirement plan related services.

This session will arm the Human Resource professional with the knowledge to address the issue of retirement plan fees for their own company, and to understand what is happening in the greater context of retirement plan legislation and trends.
