Why Attend ADA Updates?
The Supreme Court has issued some critical ADA decisions over the past years concerning who is covered under the law, seniority versus disability rights, and what is a reasonable accomodation. We will review those issues plus other issues that keep arising:
- How to recognize a reasonable accomodation request (even if those words aren't used)
- When can medical documentation be required?
- How to handle employees who are underperforming due to medical issues
About the Presenter
Kathy Gips is Director of Training at the New England ADA Center, one of ten ADA centers funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research to provide technical assistance and guidance on the Americans with Disabilities Act and related state and federal law. She has over 15 years of experience in the disability field.

Supported Employment Program for Disabled Veterans in Rhode
Island and Southeastern Massachusetts
by Tom Caulfield, Vocational Specialist, U.S. Department of Veterans
Affairs
The V.A. has a Supported Employment program to
assist disabled veterans within the State of Rhode Island and
Southeastern Massachusetts find and keep competative employment in the
community. The program represents
veterans that are seeking employment and to re-engage in the community.
The U.S. Dept of Veterans Affairs offers significant support for both
the veteran and the employer.
The V.A. will provide initial on-site job coaching and continued support,
and will be available to both the veteran and employer should any
problems arise. Any veteran hired must be able to perform the duties
assigned by the employer successfully (with supports provided by the
V.A. as needed) and meet the needs of the employer.
This is a great opportunity to become a partner with the
U.S.
Dept of Veterans Affairs and provide employment to veterans who have
honorably served their country.
