Lulli Quoted in Two National HR Publications

Over the last couple of months, HRM-RI member Linda S. Lulli, SPHR, Associate VP Human Resournces at Bryant University, has been interviewed by reporters for SHRM’s HR Magazine and for the HR Executive publication. She was quoted in articles in the HR Magazine May 2005 edition ("Unions Follow Suit" on pages 50 and 51) and the May 16, 2005 edition of HR Executive ("Time for a Makeover?" on pages 34 and 35).

HRM-RI Members Help to Host Newport Chamber Roundtables

Working in conjunction with the Newport County Chamber of Commerce, HRM-RI members have been helping to host round table sessions. The latest session on May 19th addressed various types of employee leave, ranging from paid-time-off to the FMLA. The event was hosted by Jackie Dube and David Goldman.

This roundtable program has been run monthly since October of 2004, and has drawn an attendance of 20+ at each session. HRM members are encouraged to help by sharing their experience at future events. If interested, please contact us.

Coté Quoted in PBN Article About RI Business Group on Health

Leaders of several major local companies are working with benefits consultants Marsh and Mercer to reestablish the Rhode Island Business Group on Health, so that employers can be more actively involved in state health policy discussions. HRM-RI member Christopher R. Coté was recently quoted in an article about this initiative in the Providence Business News. Read the article

Morse Wins Survey Raffle

All respondents to our recent Employee Engagement Survey who provided a company name and e-mail address were entered in a special raffle for a $35 gift basket from Baskets Galore. The drawing was held at our April 20th meeting and the winner was HRM-RI member Heather Morse of North Safety Products.

Goldman Meets With Legislative Staff at SHRM Conference

In March, David Goldman, Vice President of HRM-RI, attended the SHRM 22nd Annual Employment Law and Legislative Conference in Washington, DC. As part of the program, he met with staff members from the offices of Senator Chaffee and Representative Langevin. These meetings addressed topics ranging from retirement savings to health care to FMLA.

HRM-RI Members Quoted in Providence Business News

Lynn Watterson, President of HRM-RI, was interviewed by Providence Business News for their February 21st article about how local businesses respond to job applicants. Also quoted in this article were HRM-RI members David Goldman, Human Resource Director at the Preservation Society of Newport County, Elissa O'Brien, VP Human Resources at Cranston ARC, and Gil Swick, Senior VP/General Manager at Lee Hecht Harrison.
