Many Thanks to Mary Lou Buonaccorsi; Donna Dias Appointed
as New Treasurer
by Lynn Watterson, SPHR, HRM-RI President
Mary Lou Buonaccorsi has served HRM-RI for over
six years as our Treasurer. Under her guidance, our resources have
grown and our financial stability has been strengthened. We are
all very grateful that she has shared her time and talent with us.
Many, many thanks to Mary Lou!
After such a long and busy tenure, however, Mary Lou asked
that we find a successor for her. We are pleased to announce that
in January the Board approved the appointment of Donna Dias as the
new Treasurer of HRM-RI.
Donna is Human Resource Manager at Arnold Lumber Company. She previously
worked in human resources at ChemArt Company and Coto Wabash. Donna
graduated from Roger Williams University, has a Certificate
in HR from Bryant University, and has been a member of HRM-RI since
1992. We welcome Donna to her new position.

DOL Web Tools Help Employers Understand Recently Revised Overtime Rules
Need help figuring out if the recently revised overtime exemption rules
impact you and your employees? Two DOL Web tools can assist. DOL's FairPay
Web Site,
at www.dol.gov/fairpay,
offers online training seminars and fact sheets addressing the revised
rules by both exemption and occupation.
DOL's FLSA Overtime Security Advisor, located at http://www.dol.gov/elaws/overtime.htm,
helps individuals and businesses understand whether a particular employee
is entitled to overtime protection by asking questions about his or
her primary job responsibilities and compensation. Then, based on the user’s
responses, the system makes a determination as to whether or not the
employee is likely to be exempt from overtime pay requirements.
