| From the President
Dear Members,
Happy New Year! On behalf of the newly elected slate, thank you
for the confidence you have shown in us by electing us to lead
the organization. We are all excited and energized as we begin
this new year and look forward to serving all our members and to
representing the profession.
We can approach these responsibilities
with confidence because HRM/RI is an organization that is strong,
well managed and growing. Thanks are due to Elissa O’Brien
for her outstanding leadership during the past two years. Elissa
has undertaken many initiatives that have grown and improved HRM.
Equaling her accomplishments will be difficult.
The entire Board
of HRM will meet later this week to outline our plans for the
upcoming year. My vision is for us to focus on these three initiatives:
- Increasing member benefits, including a greater number of
professional development opportunities.
- Raising the visibility and creditability of HRM in the larger
community. It is important that our profession, and our association,
be recognized and that we share our expertise particularly with
the business community.
- Strengthening and enlarging our volunteer structure. Volunteers
make this organization. Please get involved, not only will you
be serving the organization, but also it’s a great professional
development experience, and you’ll have fun, too!
So, when we ask, please say yes. And if you are unable to volunteer
your time, please offer your suggestions. We want to hear from
our members.
Meanwhile, I wish each of you a happy and successful new year,
professionally and personally.
