Thank you to all the HRM-RI members who
have donated to our Adopt-a-Family
progam. HRM-RI is participating in this program
through the National Guard Family Readiness
Program. We have adopted a family of three children
of a Rhode Island servicewoman serving in Iraq.
The total of member donations has reached
our $1,000 goal, and HRM-RI will be matching that
amount. Again, many thanks to all you contributed so
generously!

Volunteers Needed to Help Students
|
|
With Resume-Writing and Interviewing
by Cathy A. Capalbo, School Based
Coordinator, Narragansett High School
At Narragansett High School, the English
Department and I are looking for help with a
Junior English task on resume and cover
letter writing as well as a mock interview.
About 100 students will be required to
complete a resume and cover letter, to have
them reviewed, and then to participate in a
mock interview. This activity is scheduled
to take place during the month of December.
Human Resource professionals are needed as
volunteers. If you can assist us, we would
electronically send you several resumes with
cover letters to review in order to provide
feedback to
the student in writing. Once the resumes and
cover
letters are reviewed, we would then ask you to
conduct mock interviews with these same
students.
We will have flexibility when scheduling
these mock
interviews. As long as they occur during the
school
day, the interviewer can come to the school
at a date
and time period that best fits his or her
schedule.
Based on a pilot program conducted last year,
each
interview will take about 15 minutes.
We value the expertise of HRM-RI members and
HRM-RI's comitment to helping students and
teachers connect school to the world of work.
If you
are interested in volunteering for this
activity, please
contact me for more specific details: Cathy A.
